Places to connect

Parkly creates places where people can sit down, relax, and meet others. Whether a public square, parklet, office space or residential yard – great public places connect people. Parkly offers an easy alternative to slow and expensive renovations. It is a great tool for experiments too.

Urban green infrastructure adds more health-boosting factors and joy. The green Parkly modules provide more biodiversity with pollinator friendly plants, more edible experiences with urban gardening boxes, and more trees to public places. 

Our services range from urban gardening workshops to green care, and are designed to pump life into the place. Parkly is also a great platform for community-driven activities.

Placemaking as a service

Parkly modules are easy to mix and match, scale up and down, and use in different locations. Parkly modules include seating, green modules and additional parts for working, exercise and play. We are building up the module catalogue with a co-creation model and offer custom designs too.

Parkly is a tool for making participation easy and visible for participants and planners alike. Parkly-projects are based on the users’ needs in order to create the best possible place.

Together with our collaborators we offer services ranging from workshops, green care, maintenance, planning and consultation, and data collecting.

More (urban) green

Our goal for Parkly is to pave the way for the green transition in cities by making the transformation of public places easy and inspiring.

Our aim is to use the most sustainable materials available and to help the plants thrive and stay healthy – for instance the trees that we use in Parkly modules are replanted in parks after they exceed a certain age.

For every Parkly module produced we compensate 10 square meters of old-growth forest in Finland via the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation.

Team & Mission

Parkly is founded by RaivioBumann Studios public art, placemaking and urban design studio founders Päivi Raivio & Daniel Bumann.

Päivi Raivio and Daniel Bumann are artists and designers with a “walk the talk” -attitude. They are passionate about better public spaces – the core of good city life and thriving communities. Makers by heart, seeing the concrete results and creative methods come to life in public space is the fuel which drives them forward to create change in urban environments.
