The Bern branch of Ski + Velo Center will have to relinquish part of its rented premises in future due to the termination of the rental agreement. The sales rooms, which were previously spread over two properties, will therefore be concentrated in one location. As all sales activities and equipment rental will be combined in one compact location, the optimal use of space and the attractiveness of the store premises are of great importance for the conversion. In addition, a previously non-existent social room and new sanitary facilities are desired. The urgently needed renovation of the waste water pipes will also be carried out during the conversion.
The very ambitious timetable could be adhered to thanks to a simple concept focused on the essentials, e.g. by means of plan drawings. Measures such as the selection of materials by means of on-site sampling made it possible to reach an ideal decision without any detours. Thanks to the constant, close cooperation with the customer, it was possible to continuously identify requirements, resolve difficulties and implement decisions efficiently. Wherever possible, existing material was recycled, thus greatly reducing material costs.
Frey & Frey reorganized the floor plan layout in order to create a pleasant ambience in the rooms and at the same time make optimum use of the space. The old gallery, which covered the entire first floor, was also removed for this purpose. The service counter with the modern office module installed above it serves as the new, central point of contact for customers. This is reached via the newly installed, custom-made steel staircase. A number of walls were removed in the basement to create larger, more attractive and coherent sales areas.
In order to create a contemporary and customer-oriented appearance, the interior underwent a general refresh. This includes a reduced, modern color concept and the creation of presentation areas that can be used flexibly using text frames. The presentation of goods benefits from the new lighting concept, which also underlines the modern, appealing style of the new Ski + Velocenter Bern.
