Located at Stockerstrasse 64 in Zurich, wineBANK Zurich is an exclusive members-only club for wine lovers, collectors, and guests with an appreciation for special places. Frey & Frey AG was responsible for the interior design and the entire renovation, creating a bespoke spatial concept that seamlessly integrates the wine cellar, members’ lounge, bar, tasting rooms, and private club atmosphere into a harmonious whole.
Spanning approximately 1,000 m², the project translates the concept of a wine vault into high-end hospitality architecture. On the ground floor, wineBANK Zurich welcomes its members with an elegant lounge, warm materials, cozy seating areas, a bar, and flexible meeting and event spaces. Four floors below is the climate-controlled wine storage facility, featuring private lockers, safes, and cellar areas.
The design embodies the principles of contemporary hospitality design: spaces should not only be functional, but also facilitate interaction, provide clear wayfinding, and create a unique guest experience. Oak wood, textiles, brass accents, natural stone, glass, and carefully placed lighting create an atmosphere that blends the exclusivity of a private club, the elegance of a bar lounge, and the sophistication of a modern wine cellar.
A central design element is the curved staircase, which, as a sculptural feature, connects the various areas of the wineBANK Zurich. Transparent glass surfaces offer a view into the world of wine, while zoned lounge and tasting areas provide privacy. The result is an interior design that does not ostentatiously showcase exclusivity, but rather allows it to be experienced through materials, light, proportions, and attention to detail.
With the wineBANK Zurich, Frey & Frey AG showcases its expertise in high-end interior design, hospitality architecture, and sophisticated interior construction. The project combines design, renovation, and precise project execution to create a space that reinterprets the concepts of a wine cellar, a place of indulgence, a business networking hub, and a design club in Zurich.
